SPECIAL ABILITY RULES
[/B]SEERS[/B]
seers, as we have learned from professor trelawney, do not usually have every-day predictions. however, every so often they do make prophecies. though since this is our site and we can do what we want, we will allow for seers to get strong 'feelings' about certain day to day events, to make roleplaying more fun between world-altering prophecies, ya dig?
PARSELMOUTHS[/B]
in the harry potter series, we have seen two kinds of parselmouths. first, you have harry himself, who while having the ability to speak parseltonge, rarely exercises it for fun and therefore can usually only do it with a snake present, and often without controlling it. and then you have people like the gaunts, voldemort, and we can assume salazar slytherin, who spoke fluently to snakes and other human parselmouths on a daily basis. so in conclusion, if your character is a parselmouth by accident and not really into the whole serpent tongue reputation, it should be much more difficult for them to converse with the slimy reptiles. if your character is like voldy, who adores his connection to snakes, then they best be speaking in hisses quite often in their roleplaying.
OCCLUMENS[/B]
occlumens possess the ability to guard their minds from assault from those who practice legilimency. however, the skill is useless unless they recognize the attack on their thoughts. therefore when roleplaying with a legilimens, they must be on the look-out for eye contact. once a potential threat is detected, they can post that they are currently deploying occlumency, and remain safe from a brain-hack.
LEGILIMENS[/B]
legilimens can read the minds of all who don't practice occlumency, and even those that do when they aren't on the ball. in roleplay, to use the ability, a legilimens must post that they are making distinct eye contact with the victim at least one post before they skim through their victims thoughts. they do not have to out and say 'mary sue is now going to read the thoughts of gary stu, and she is looking into his eyes without breaking contact', but it is necessary to say 'mary sue gazed deeply into the eyes of gary stu' or something of that sort.
METAMORPHMAGI[/B]
metamorphagi have very few rules to go by. the only thing restricting them is the extent to which they can alter their appearance. therefore we aren't allowing growth in height or change in weight. other than that, have fun.
ANIMAGI[/B]
registered animagi can basically change their form whenever they so choose. it is perfectly legal if you are over seventeen and registered. however, if you choose your character to be unregistered for reasons of stealth and secrecy, or the fact that they are under age, then if your character transforms in front of an authority figure, or someone who would report them, then they are liable to be sent to azkaban for any period of time.
